When should a girl go to the gynecologist for the first time?
The term gynecology means “the science of women”, and it specializes in diseases of the female reproductive system, most modern gynecologists are also obstetricians. Obstetricians are the surgical specialists dealing with women and their offspring.
Regular trips to the gynecologist should be made once a girl is sexually active, or around the age of 18. There is nothing wrong with going earlier than 18 though. Of course if you experience any problems at any age a trip to the gynecologist, or at least your regular doctor, should be made.
