While you can have your period while being pregnant, the fact that you’re having a shorter period is not necessarily an indication that you are pregnant.  You should certainly have a pregnancy test to find out for sure, but I wouldn’t jump to conclusions just yet as there are many other reasons your period may be shorter than usual.

Things such as stress, medication, weight gain, and even diet can effect the duration of your period.  If you’re less than 21 or older than 40 your system may be in the middle of a natural change, even those ages are not set in stone.  People have even missed a period completely and not been pregnant.

The original question mentioned that you’ve had unprotected sex, this certainly increases the chances that you’re pregnant.  Regardless of what your period is doing unprotected sex should concern you, you’re doing exactly what people do who are trying to get pregnant, so don’t be surprised if you are yourself.
