You should always take a young child to the doctor when they have an infection or virus.  How sure are you that your child has Pink Eye?  What if you treat the wrong disease?

There are a few different types of Pink Eye, or conjunctivitis, viral, bacterial, allergic, and giant papillary.  All are forms of conjunctivitis.  The conjunctiva is the thin clear membrane over the white part of the eye.  When that membrane becomes inflamed it’s called Pink Eye, or conjunctivitis.

Your primary concern is if the conjunctivitis is bacteria, in which case you’ll need anti-bacterial eye drops.

There are some over the counter eye drops that you can probably find at your local pharmacy.  Check this link for more information.
