Is it correct to answer a question with a question?
Sure answering a question with a question can be beneficial to the asker, the second asker that is, but is it the correct thing to do? That depends on what you mean by correct. The best move a politician can make in a debate may very well be to answer a question with a question. It may not be polite, but it can be an effective technique to gain thinking time, or to direct attention away from themselves.
Answering a question with a question can also be very effective in avoiding answering a question. Who is to say if answering a question is the right thing to do, I suppose it depends on the question.
I answered this question with a question, was the wrong of me? Opps there’s another one, will you ever forgive me?
Seriously, it’s not horrible to answer a question with a question but if someone is answering your questions with questions it’s probably because they do not want to answer the question, or they don’t want you to know they don’t know the answer to your question.
Great question by the way.
