I heard a rumor that you should not shake pumped breast milk. Is this true?

It is not really true.  When you refrigerate breast milk the fat may separate, in which case you should shake it up to mix it all back together.  However, when you shake any kind of milk, perhaps more so for breast milk I didn’t test it, the milk will get bubbly.  You don’t want your child drinking air, which they may if the milk has air bubbles all through it.  It’s not going to significantly harm a child, but it may give them gas and they don’t like that.  So at best it’s probably not a good idea to shake a bottle of milk before giving it to your child, but the worst that can happen is something you probably have to deal with every day or so anyway so if you must, shake away.
