How high do you need to drop a penny in order for it to cause significant damage to a human being?
This is a fairly simple question to answer. A penny will never kill anyone, it doesn’t matter what height it’s dropped from. The explanation of this answer is a little tougher.
The terminal velocity of a penny is 35-65 mph, that’s not fast enough to break the skin let alone cause any significant damage. Terminal velocity is a term given to the fastest than an object can drop, in the case of a penny the maximum speed it can attain is 65mph. To create a little perspective, a skydiver can attain speeds close to 200 mph. The penny is just too light to pick up enough speed to hurt someone due to air resistance.
Here’s a link that will explain the terminal velocity of a skydiver, who would surly kill someone if they landed on them with no parachute open.
