How would you write 62,000 in roman numerals?

Author: ctpb

You would make 62,000 in Roman numerals the same way you would make 62 with Roman numerals, except for one small difference.  62 is represented as LXII, the L stands for fifty, then there is an X to the right of the L (the largest number) which means add ten, then there are two Is to the right of the X which means add two, the total is 62.  Numbers on the left side of the largest number show you to subtract that amount.  For example 42 would be XLII.  Now to turn LXII into 62,000 just add a bar to the top of each number which represents that the number should be multiplied by one thousand.

So 62,000 would look like this: LXII
