Gatorade and drinks similar do help hydrate the body better than water. It is also full of vitamins such as vitamin A, C, E, B5, B12, as well as riboflavin and a couple other goodies. This is obviously good for you, but the cardinal rule is never take anything in excess and these sports drinks are no exception.
Gatorade contains a lot of carbohydrates, and a lot of sugar, as you know too much of these things can lead to weight gain, which can lead to many health issues. I think it is very unadvisable to drink Gatorade, or other such drinks, frequently, although I think they are very good to drink while involved in an activity. For one the Gatorade will prevent dehydration, and the sugars will give additional energy to you while you do whatever activity you're doing. Protein would be a better source of energy than sugar, but if you drink Gatorade at least you're burning off those sugars while you exercise. Basically, don't drink Gatorade while sitting on the couch, but it's probably still better than most pops.
