A vegetarian diet can have virtually no cons and will need no supplements if properly balanced.  If you simply stop eating meat and don’t pay attention to a healthy vegetarian diet it can be harmful. I became a vegetarian a year ago and I take no vitamins or supplements and have not had any ill effects from it. Vegetarian diets have been found to completely satisfy nutritional needs in all stages of life.  Large-scale studies have proven vegetarianism to increase longevity, improve health, and significantly lower risks of cancer and other fatal diseases. Some evidence also suggests that vegetarian diets can improve mood and mental ability.  As a vegetarian you must consume more daily and will be hungry more often.  If planning on doing exhausting work a vegetarian should have meal before with lots of calories, if you don’t you will get tired and hungry relatively quickly compared to non vegetarians.  If your diet is not well balanced and you do not have lots of green leafy vegetables in your diet you can become deficient in B vitamins and calcium but this can be overcome with eggs and cheeses as well as green vegetables. When I first became a vegetarian I realized I was not getting enough protein because I would feel ill and tried all the time but I began eating more and increasing my foods with high protein and I was soon fine.  One other concern for vegetarians is a potential lack of iron.  This is easily corrected by eating green vegetables.  If you’re still not getting enough iron from the green vegetables, having something with vitamin C in it will help your body absorb the iron from the green vegetables.
