Despite fitness reality shows on TV telling us that we have to work out really hard to lose weight, there are a lot of low impact exercises you can do, which you might not ony find better and easier to do, but they may also be better for your joints and prevent any injuries. This is an important factor to consider when starting out on an exercise program.
One of the most beneficial low impact exercises you can start with is walking. Walking even for 5 minutes a day can be an enormous help to getting the blood circulating faster, helping you get oxygen to your cells, and disposing of any bad stuff the body wants to get out. Never think that you have to start doing exercises for 30 minutes at a time either. Heavier set people that may start to breathe heavily at the tiniest bit of movement can start walking as little as 5 minutes once a day and build up from there. You may even want to do another 5 minutes of walking later on in the day, as the more you exercise, the faster you'll train your body to burn more fat. But when you're just starting, slow and steady is the way to go.
