While it is possible for a person to be born of a mother with HIV and fight it off, it is not likely and it is not due to human intervention, at least there’s nothing we can do that would consistently work. We have the ability to suppress HIV, but there is never any guarantee.
There are cases in which a baby born with HIV has been able to fight it off. After all HIV and AIDS can be defeated by the human immune system, the problem is the human immune system usually doesn’t even know it’s there until it’s too late. See this answer for more details on that.
It is possible for a man with HIV to impregnate a woman without transferring the virus, the risk is still great for the woman however. If she does not contract the virus, then the baby will also be safe from it. There is also something called ‘sperm washing’ in which and HIV cells are removed from the sperm before a woman is artificially inseminated with it. This will reduce the risk of her contracting HIV, but not rule it out altogether.
